An Afternoon of Storytelling Magic with Historian Cesar Becerra at East Ridge Village

On September 25, residents and guests at East Ridge Village were transported back in time during a captivating presentation, “A Living History of an Audubon Warden at the Turn of the Century.”

Led by renowned South Florida historian Cesar Becerra, the afternoon was filled with storytelling magic, as Cesar brought to life the incredible adventures of early Audubon wardens who patrolled Florida’s wild frontier. With props, costumes, and vivid tales, he painted a picture of a time when the state’s natural beauty—and its wildlife—were fiercely protected by a few brave individuals.

Guests enjoyed small bites and drinks as they listened to stories of the challenges and triumphs of those early conservationists, learning more about the birds, landscapes, and rich history that shaped the Florida we know today. And of course, everyone loved hearing about the flamingos that have become icons of the Sunshine State! 🦩

Cesar Becerra, often called “Miami’s Most Peripatetic Historian” and “The Everglades Evangelist,” has spent decades exploring and preserving South Florida’s history through his writings, lectures, and adventures. His energy and passion for storytelling made this event a truly memorable experience for all who attended.

Thank you, Cesar, for an unforgettable performance and for inspiring our community with your deep appreciation of Florida’s past!
