East Ridge at Cutler Bay, Miami-Dade County’s only all-inclusive resort retirement community, has a new manager of facilities.
Michael P. Callahan, CBC has been named Manager of Facilities and will oversee the plant operations department which includes maintenance, grounds, security and transportation services as well as a staff of 25 people for our 76-acre community.
Callahan brings over 25 years of experience working in the facilities management field across various roles and is a licensed general contractor. His background ranges from working as the technical director and resident set and lighting design with Southwood/South Center for the Arts to director of facilities management and security with WPBT2. He joined the staff at Macy’s Logistics and Operations where he was the manager of facilities and supply chain asset protection and led a team of security officers and maintenance staff.
Most recently, he was facility manager for Delaware North at Fort Lauderdale International Airport where he was responsible for the total functions of the department including maintenance and construction of the restaurants and bars located in Terminal 3 and 4.
“We are pleased to have someone with Michael’s experience join East Ridge at Cutler Bay,” said executive director Jeffrey Merritt. “Our community is undergoing such tremendous improvements highlighted by the upcoming opening of the new Health Center which will bring assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation accommodations and services. It’s important to have someone with his expertise for guidance in a broad range of facility management and operations. We welcome his approach and ideas that can further assist East Ridge in its delivery of services.”
Michael is a local native to Cutler Bay having lived in the town since 1977. He attended Centennial Jr. High School now Cutler Bay High School and graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High in 1982. His early career focused on the entertainment business and he has been involved in theater, television and movies. His movie experience includes Porky’s and Porky’s 2, The Bird Cage and Any Given Sunday to name a few.
He is married to his lovely wife, Melissa, and they have three children.
